(b Kansas City, MO, Oct 5, 1920). American horn player, recording artist, and educator. A child of musicians John DeRosa (clarinet) and Clelia DeRubertis DeRosa (vocalist), he started studying the horn at an early age with Peter Dilecce of the Chicago Civic Opera Orchestra. After moving to Los Angeles, he studied briefly with his uncle, Vincent DeRubertis, a staff horn player for Paramount Studios, and Alfred Brain, principal horn at 20th Century Fox.
