(b Oldbury, Dec 5, 1844; d London, March 18, 1924). English organist, composer and writer. In 1850 the Bridge family moved from the Midlands to Rochester, the father to be a vicar-choral and the son, Frederick, a probationary chorister in the cathedral choir. At 14 the boy was articled to the cathedral organist, John Hopkins, and during the term of his articles he held successively the post of organist at two nearby churches.
