(b ?Naples, 1712; d Venice, Sept 11, 1796). Italian composer. Since he is invariably identified as a Neapolitan in the librettos, it is improbable that he was born at Padua, as Gerber stated. Annotations in a manuscript in Vienna (A-Wn 19083) suggest that he studied with Giovanni Veneziano, perhaps at the Conservatorio di S Maria di Loreto in Naples.
