(b Pristan′ Vozneseniya, Olonets province, 4/Aug 17, 1907; d Moscow, Feb 15, 1971). Russian composer. He studied in Nizhniy Novgorod (1918–21), in Petrograd and at the Moscow Conservatory (1925–30), where he was a pupil of Gnesin and Myaskovsky.
