(b Kharkiv, Jan 30, 1930; d Kharkiv, Dec 19, 1995). Ukrainian composer. He initially studied philology at the University Khar′kiv, but then entered the conservatory and graduated in 1953 from the composition class of Klebanov. In 1980 he was made an Honoured Arts Worker of the Ukrainian SSR. Although he left a work in almost every genre, his main contribution was in the field of opera.
