(b Novo Mesto (Kandija), Slovenia, Nov 29, 1851; d Ljubljana, Slovenia, April 20, 1934). Slovenian composer and church musician. He studied at the Franciscan elementary school and at gymnasium in Novo Mesto. He was taught to sing, and to play piano and violin, from an early age by his father, a keen amateur musician, and by several other amateur and professional musicians working in Novo Mesto, especially F.
