(b Dallas, Nov 21, 1955). American musicologist, composer and critic. He attended Oberlin Conservatory (BMus 1977) and Northwestern University (MMus 1981, DMus 1983), where he studied composition with Peter Gena, Morton Feldman and Ben Johnston.
