Guraieb, Rosalocked


(b Matías Romero, Oaxaca, May 20, 1931). Mexican composer, of Lebanese origin. She was educated at the Mexico City Conservatory, before studying at Yale University (1954) and in Bayreuth. Her first composition teacher was José Pablo Moncayo; in 1970 she joined the Carlos Chávez Workshop and later studied with Mario Lavista and Daniel Catan. Among her principal works are two string quartets, a Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano, and a Piano Concerto....
