(b Ard Mhacha, Ireland, Dec 20, 1954). Irish composer and producer. He studied at Maidstone College of Art (1973–7), and released his first album, a collection of minimalist pieces entitled Grey Scale, in 1976 on his own Piano label. With his tutor Michael Upton and the vocalist Deborah Evans, he also recorded a minimalist spoken version of Eddie Cochran’s 'Summertime Blues'. This was subsequently released as a single by Virgin Records under the name of the Flying Lizards.
