(b Šibenik, July 28, 1938). Croatian composer, singer, and poet. Dedić graduated in flute from the Musical Academy in Zagreb. For a short period he worked as a musical associate for the Croatian National Television. He sang and played the flute in various pop and jazz ensembles. From the early 1960s he became an independent artist. He is most popular and widely known as a poet and chansonnier. Even though he has written songs for choir, children, and even commercials, most of his opus consists of intimate popular chansons that talk of life, love, and transience. Their lure lies in the perfect fusion of words and music....
