(b Volos, 1944). Greek musicologist, specialist in the aesthetics and sociology of music. More broadly, her research interests are in the fields of musicology of European music, the aesthetics and sociology of music, theories on music pedagogy, and Greek art music. She was a student of Adorno, L. Finscherand, and H. Schnädelbach. She was awarded the PhD at the University of Frankfurt. Her PhD dissertation was about the relation of Beethoven’s sonatas to the aesthetics of German idealism. She has been a professor in the music department, Athens University, Greece. Frangou-Psychopedi introduced and cultivated Adorno’s work on music and aesthetics in Greece, giving presentations on Greek Radio (Third Programme) in a series of shows.
