(b Sofia, Bulgaria, May 25, 1899; d Sofia, Bulgaria, Jan 17, 1990). Bulgarian pianist of Czech origin. She came from a family of professional musicians. She is the great-granddaughter of the Czech composer Fritz Spindler and her father was the French horn player Václav Pelišek, one of the first Czech musicians to travel to Bulgaria for professional music training after its liberation from Ottoman rule. She began studying piano at the age of ten and studied at the School of Music with Jindřich Wiesner, Lyudmila Prokopova, Andrey Stoyanov, and Ivan Torchanov (who was a student of Leopold Godowsky).
