(b Galați, Romania, March 21, 1928). Romanian pianist and composer. Demonstrating a precocious musical talent, he was admitted to the Royal Academy of Music in Bucharest, where he studied the piano with Constanța Erbiceanu and theoretical disciplines with Mihail Jora. Recommended by George Enescu, he obtained a scholarship at the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique in Paris, where he studied with Lazare Levy and Noel Gallon.
