State university with campuses in Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney. The flagship campus in Lincoln (UNL) was founded in 1869. It opened a music school as an independent but credit-awarding conservatory in 1894. Enrollment grew rapidly from 57 students to 200 by the end of the first academic year.
