(b Chicago, Oct 26, 1915; d Milwaukee, WI, March 26, 2002). American music therapist and music therapy educator. At an early age she used her talents as an organist to accompany church services for her local parish. In 1944 she took her vows with the School Sisters of St Francis. Developing an interest in music therapy during the 1930s, Schorsch performed regularly in Chicago hospitals, assisting patients undergoing insulin shock treatment and other medical procedures. These experiences solidified her interest in the growing field of music therapy, leading her to become one of the earliest members of the National Association for Music Therapy (NAMT). In ...
