(b Harrah, OK, April 21, 1952). American conservator, teacher, and hornist. While completing his studies in musicology at the Eastman School of Music (MA 1980) and classical studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo (PhD 1991), Honea designed and built a music conservation laboratory at the Sibley Music Library (Eastman) that remains the foremost facility of its kind in the United States. During his tenure as head of rare books and special collections, Honea instituted a program of bibliographic access to rare materials, supervising the creation of over fifty online finding aids to previously inaccessible collections. His work in preservation and reformatting of music scores provided the foundation for Sibley’s current programs of digital access to rare scores and hands-on training in music conservation and preservation....
