Pfatteicher, Carl F(riedrichs)

(b Easton, PA, Sept 22, 1882; d Philadelphia, PA, Sept 29, 1957). American organist and teacher. He was trained in music and theology at Harvard (1912) and Freiburg University. From 1912 to 1947 he was professor of music at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he established a tradition of playing the complete organ works of Bach each academic year in the college chapel. He then taught at Franklin and Marshall College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Trinity University in San Antonio.
