(b nr Clyde, MI, Feb 5, 1866; d Lake Bluff, IL, May 18, 1952). American teacher and composer. While attending high school in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he studied harmony with Francis L. York. He studied engineering and then liberal arts at the University of Michigan, taking some music courses under Calvin B. Cady.
