(b Brimfield, MA, Oct 1, 1845; d Westfield, MA, March 18, 1931). American organ builder. He received his early training with William Allen Johnson, later worked for John Wesley Steere, and in 1883 established his workshop in Westfield, Massachusetts. For some time his operation remained small, building modest-sized mechanical action organs for churches in New England and New York state, one of his larger instruments being a 3-manual organ built in the 1890s for the First Congregational Church of Spencer, Massachusetts.
