(b Montréal, July 25, 1930; d Toronto, June 16, 2010). Canadian contralto. After studies with Sally Martin, Frank Rowe, and Bernard Diamant, she concentrated on a career in concert and recital. Her unheralded New York debut (Town Hall, 12 November 1956) attracted extraordinary critical response, and engagements soon followed with leading American orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York PO, the National SO, and the orchestras of Boston, Toronto, St. Louis, San Jose, Dallas, and Milwaukee.
