(b Antioch, CA, Oct 3, 1908; d New York, NY, Feb 25, 1964). American lyricist and pianist. Burke was raised in Chicago, and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He joined Irving Berlin’s Chicago office in 1926, moving on to New York where he worked with several composers, notably Jimmy Van Heusen. Burke contributed to many Paramount movies, including over 20 with Bing Crosby.
