(b Newark, NJ, May 21, 1954). American composer, improviser, and guitarist. Ribot is a central figure on New York City’s downtown music scene, with a personal style inflected by rock, experimental composition, and free improvisation. The blues are a core influence, both stylistically and through their poetics of signification.
