New Orleans jazz band. In the 1950s the art dealer Larry Borenstein engaged veteran jazz musicians to play at his art gallery on St. Peter Street, New Orleans, and from 1961 the performances took place in part of an adjacent building, which Borenstein opened as Preservation Hall. Allan Jaffe (i) and his wife, Sandra, took over the administration of the hall and began to organize tours for the musicians who regularly played there, calling the group the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
