English jazz-rock group. It was formed in Canterbury in 1966 by the keyboard player Mike Ratledge, the drummer Robert Wyatt, the electric bass guitarist Kevin Ayers, and the electric guitarist Daevid Allen. In 1967 the group was involved in the psychedelic movement in London and worked in avant-garde theatre in St. Tropez.
