Alsatian family of organ builders. Joseph Rabiny (b Ottobeuren, 18 March 1732; d Rouffach, 16 May 1813) was a pupil of his uncle Charles Riepp, whom he succeeded in Dijon in 1775. In 1787 he established himself at Rouffach, where he became associated with the organ builder François Callinet, later his son-in-law and successor. Having known Riepp, Silbermann, and Clicquot, Rabiny continued the tradition of the French 17th- and 18th-century classical school. He built the instruments in the abbey at Comeux (...
