Trumpet of Nepal. The conical copper tube, commonly about 130 cm long and 0.5 cm in diameter widening to 14 cm, comprises four sections which telescope together for storage. In performance the bell end hangs from a bamboo stick. The integral mouthpiece has a shallow cup with a flat rim. Only two partials are sounded. It is used commonly in pairs of unequal length and pitch during funeral processions and other major ritual events and festivals by Newar musicians of the Kathmandu Valley....
