Stone clappers of the Uzbek and the plains and river-valley Tajik peoples of Central Asia; also found (rarely) in northern Afghanistan. They are usually held loosely, a pair in each hand, and shaken to create a high-pitched sound with fast rhythms. They are generally used by female dancers at weddings and other life cycle ceremonies....
