(b Brussels, Belgium, Aug 17, 1967). Belgian clavichord and organ maker. The son of the organ and clavichord maker Ghislain Potvlieghe, Joris grew up in his father’s workshop. He built his first clavichord at the age of 17, inspired by the work of Friederici. That instrument was given its début by Jos Van Immerseel at the University of Leuven, where Potvlieghe also studied musicology for several years. During this time his father put him in contact with the Amsterdam harpsichord and piano builder Jan Van den Hemel, with whom he continued to study original instruments in German museums. In ...
