(b Mitava, Latvia, 1841; d St Petersburg, 4/Nov 16, 1892). Russian soprano. After studying in Riga and St Petersburg she made her début in 1862 at the Mariinsky Theatre as Antonida. She possessed a small but cultured voice of pleasing timbre and was noted for the clarity of her diction and her outstanding dramatic talent.
