(b Pisino d’Istria, Feb 3, 1904; d Florence, Feb 19, 1975). Italian composer. He grew up in a disputed territory (then part of the Austrian empire), a circumstance that seems to have had a significant effect on his character in later life. Pisino was a frontier town and a crossroads of cultures.
