Intermezzo in two parts by Niccolò Jommelli ; Venice, Teatro S Samuele, 6 May 1750 (revised as Il paratajo, to a libretto by Charles-François Clément, Paris, Opéra, 25 September 1753).
The original Italian version involves only two singing characters and a silent role. While hunting, Don Narciso (tenor) spies the bird-catcher Mergellina (soprano). Thinking her a woodland goddess, he falls in love. She teases him unmercifully, then relents, and they join the rest of the hunting party. The intermezzo was reworked as ...
