Austrian family of musicians.
(b Korneuburg, Lower Austria, April 11, 1769; d Fünfkirchen [now Pécs], Hungary, May 12, 1843). Composer and conductor. Orphaned at an early age, he studied music under Witzig, the Korneuburg church organist. In 1785 he went to Vienna, teaching music and studying with Albrechtsberger and Haydn.
