(b Bregenz, Austria, June 20, 1907). German acoustician and musicologist . He studied acoustics and natural sciences at the Berlin Technische Hochschule from 1927 and then (1932–4) worked as a qualified engineer in a studio for experimental music that he had set up at the Berlin Musikhochschule.
