(b Bucharest, Romania, Sept 14, 1951). Romanian composer. She studied at the Bucharest Conservatory (1970–74), where her teachers included Cosma, Comişel, Ciortea, Niculescu, and Olah; she was a postgraduate pupil of Olah (1975–6). She participated in the Gaudeamus Workshop in Amsterdam (1990 and 1992) and Darmstadt Ferienkursen (1990, 1992, 1994). In 1991 she was awarded a grant to study with Theo Loevendie in Amsterdam. A lecturer at the Enescu Academy from 1974, in 1990 she was appointed professor of harmony, counterpoint, and composition at the Bucharest Conservatory (now the National University of Music). She was active in a number of youth organizations and for a period headed the Romanian Young Women Composers group. She is co-author with Liviu Comes of the treatise Tratat de contrapunt vocal si instrumental (Bucharest, 1977, 2/1986).
