Founded in London in 1952 by Harley Usill and Alex Herbage, it produced many outstanding recordings such as those by the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields under Neville Marriner, King’s College Choir, Cambridge, the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the Heinrich Schütz Choir under Roger Norrington.
