(b Sarajevo, Oct 23, 1941). Bosnian-Herzegovinian composer of Croatian descent. Bego-Šimunić graduated from the Secondary Music School in Sarajevo at the Department for Piano, the First Gymnasium in Sarajevo, and the Academy of Music in Sarajevo. In 1967 she graduated from the Department for Composition at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo in the class of Miroslav Špiler. In 1973 she completed postgraduate work in the class, also with Špiler. She also studied in the class of Ivan Brkanović. From 1969 she taught harmony, counterpoint, solfeggio, and music theory in the Secondary Music School in Sarajevo. In 1973 she was promoted from a part-time assistant to a full-time professor at the Academy of Music in Sarajevo, teaching courses in composition and orchestration. Occasionally she has taught courses in music theory.
