(b Vitória, Espírito Santo, Feb 18, 1910). Brazilian pianist and composer. She began her studies with Neusa França (piano) and continued them with Giovanni Giannetti (harmony, composition, counterpoint and fugue) in Rio de Janeiro; she also studied the piano with Magda(lena) Tagliaferro. She made her début as a pianist in 1930 in Rio de Janeiro. From 1941 to 1945 she was artistic director of the Curso Santa Rosa de Lima. She has written extensively for the piano and has produced much chamber and orchestral music. In 1975 she was awarded a prize in the Viotti international competition, Italy, for her Sonata fantasia no.1: ‘Sonata ao mar’ (1961). A catalogue of her works was published in 1978 by the Ministério das Relações Exteriores in Brazil.
