  • Graham Hair
  •  and Greta Mary Hair

(b Sydney, July 13, 1938). Australian composer. She studied at the University of Sydney, where she was the first music graduate (BA 1960, MA 1963), and in London with Peter Racine Fricker and Goehr family, §2. She taught at the University of Sydney, 1967–73. Her output includes a large body of chamber and keyboard works, and pieces commissioned by educational organizations. An idiosyncratic feature of her work is a number of pieces, commissioned by the Sydney Mandolins, for mandolins in small and large groups. Her music demonstrates an eclectic style that includes elements as diverse as 12-note serialism and ragtime. She is also well known as a writer and broadcaster.
