- Christine Ammer
(b Englewood, NJ, Sept 8, 1943). American composer and teacher. Her teachers include Meyer Kupferman, Charles Wuorinen, Chou Wen-chung and Bülent Arel, and she holds the doctorate in composition from Columbia University. She has taught widely: at Yale University, the City University of New York, Manhattan School of Music, Sara Lawrence College and the New School, New York. Cory composes principally for chamber ensembles and solo instruments; although she has occasionally employed serialism, her work is best described as atonal yet very lyrical and displays her acute ear for instrumental sonorities.
