(b Madrid, Jan 24, 1954). Spanish pianist, composer and actress. After studying the piano and composition she undertook courses in the technique and analysis of contemporary music with Halffter family §(1), Mauricio Kagel and György Ligeti. In 1978 she was awarded a scholarship by the Juan March Foundation and moved to France, working as a pianist and composer with the Roy Hart theatre company for three years. She took part in a number of festivals (including Saintes, Montepulciano, Darmstadt, Galenia Göra and Alicante), performed with Brau Theatre, Teatro Vivo and Teatro de Cercanías and formed a duo with the German Flautist Sputz Ronnenfeld. She returned to Spain in 1982 and founded the Taller de Música-Teatro AGADA workshop with the actor Manuel Aquinezer. Together they produced seven music-theatre entertainments for children and adults. In her music Escribano combines dramatic experimentation with a continuing investigation into the relationships between words, voice and sound....
