- Sarah M. Burn
(b Belfast, April 24, 1954). Irish composer . In 1963 she moved to Dublin, where she studied the harp at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and graduated (BMus) from Trinity College. She also studied in London (GSM) with Robert Barclay Wilson (composition), Goossens family, §6 (harp) and Maria Korchinska (harp), and in Ireland with James Wilson (composition). Much of her music is for ensembles that include a harp. Her musical language is basically tonal, though in the 1970s she showed some interest in serialism. Her music has a definite Irish flavour (through Irish harp music), but she has also been particularly influenced by French music, including impressionism and the songs of Fauré and Duparc.
