(b Santa Clara, Oct 2, 1941). Cuban composer. In 1959 she won a scholarship to the Guillermo Tomás Conservatory, Havana, to study the piano with César Pérez. She continued her education at the Instituto Superior de Arte, specializing in composition with Roberto Valera and taking a degree in music in 1981. From her first years as a student she taught music and she has maintained an intensive teaching schedule as a member of the Facultad de Enseñanza Artistica del Instituto Superior Pedagógico Enrique José Varona in Havana. Her creative work has been closely linked to that of the composers José Ardévol, Félix Guerrero Díaz, Alfredo Díez-Nieto, Dolores Torres and Harold Gramatges. The greater part of her output consists of very short pieces for small groups, especially duos, in which the timbre of the piano dominates.
