(b Crailsheim, Württemberg, Sept 28, 1927). German composer and painter. She started learning music and art from her father at the age of five and began composing when she was eight. At 15 and 16 she won prizes for composition and organ. From 1947 to 1952 she studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart with J.N. David (composition) and A.A. Nowakowski (organ); she took the Staatsexamen in church music (1950) and composition (1951). In 1952 she took part in the Darmstadt summer course with Olivier Messiaen; she has won awards in the GEDOK competitions in Mannheim and is a member of the Freie Akademie der Künste there, and won the gold medal at the 4th International Competition in Buenos Aires. She settled in Stuttgart in 1954.
Her output includes orchestral and chamber music, and works for piano and organ. The opera Die Katze des Königs...
