(b Copenhagen, March 3, 1966). Danish mezzo-soprano. She studied at the Royal Danish Conservatory, and made her professional opera début, as Cherubino, at the Royal Opera, Copenhagen, in 1993. The same year she was engaged at the Kiel Opera, where her roles included Cherubino, Siebel (Faust), Idamante (Idomeneo), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Hänsel and Flosshilde (Das Rheingold). She made her Glyndebourne début as Annio (La clemenza di Tito) in 1995, returning there as a charming Isolier (Le comte Ory) in 1997 and 1998. Since 1997 Fischer has been a company principal at the Royal Opera, singing a repertory that includes Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Dorabella, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Idamante, the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Sextus (La clemenza di Tito), Gluck’s Orpheus and Fricka in Rheingold. She has also appeared in opera in Bonn, Berlin, Hamburg and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, and has appeared frequently in concert in Denmark and elsewhere....
