(fl 1830–60). Italian violinist and orchestra leader, active in the USA. He likely first arrived in America in 1832 as the orchestra leader and first violinist of Giacomo Montresor’s Italian opera company, under the direction of Antonio Bagioli. The company presented two seasons of opera at the Italian Opera House in New York and one season in Philadelphia before folding in 1833. Rapetti then led the orchestra of the Rivafinola Opera Company before departing with a remnant of the Montresor troupe to help start the first resident opera company of Havana in 1834. From 1835, he occasionally toured with opera troupes but primarily worked in New York as a violinist and opera orchestra leader for several decades.
