(b York, PA, Aug 17, 1948). American music educator. He attended Lebanon Valley College, Pennsylvania (BS 1970), the Eastman School of Music (MM 1973), and the University of Michigan (PhD 1986). He founded a psychiatric music therapy program and innovated personal musicianship and community collaboration as a school music teacher/supervisor in Pennsylvania (1973–83). He taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1986–7) and Georgia State University (1987–2008), where he received two outstanding faculty awards, was associate director of the School of Music (1997–2007), implemented a PhD program, and founded the Center for Educational Partnerships in Music. In 2008, Myers received the outstanding career award from the Georgia Music Educators Association and became director of the University of Minnesota School of Music.
