North American Brass Band Association [NABBA]
- James P. Cassaro
Non-profit organization incorporated in 1983, made up of individual members and member bands. Devoted to British-type brass bands—ensembles that utilize the instrumentation of historic British brass bands of the late twentieth century, employing cornets, flugelhorn, E-flat tenor horns, B-flat baritones, euphoniums, trombones, tubas and percussion—this corporation was organized to foster, promote, and encourage the establishment, growth, and development of such ensembles throughout the United States and Canada. Its mission is, in part, to support and help further the music education of its members, as well as to advance the public’s appreciation of British-type brass bands. A resource for musical and organizational assistance to such bands throughout North America, it also helps to sponsor and hold local, state, regional, national, and international contests and festivals for the purpose of improving the performing standards and abilities of its members. The Brass Band Bridge, its online quarterly publication, is devoted to disseminating news of, and scholarly articles on, all aspects relating to North American brass bands, and also reviews recently published brass band materials....
