(b Utica, NY, Jan 25, 1933). American organist and organ scholar. Owen studied organ at Westminster Choir College and received a MusB in 1955 before earning a MusM from Boston University in 1962. Her organ teachers included Edward Broadhead, Alexander McCurdy, and George Faxon. She later attended summer courses at the North German Organ Academy (1975, 1977) and the Academy of Italian Organ Music (1985), and she earned the American Guild of Organists Choir Master certificate in 1982. After graduating from Westminster Choir College, Owen served as organist in various Connecticut and Massachusetts churches before accepting a position as Music Director at First Religious Society Unitarian Church in Newburyport, MA (1963–2002). After her retirement there, she became organist at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Lowell, MA (2002–7).
