(b Vallejo, CA, Nov 15, 1967). American rapper. Highly regarded for his rapid-fire delivery, he became a fixture in the west coast hip-hop scene in the early 1990s and was fiercely independent as an artist and businessman. He has released his albums, including his recording debut, on his own label Sick Wid It Records. He is also well known for his invention of new slang words, and his phonetic embellishments have been widely embraced by the hip-hop community.
Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, Stevens was exposed to music at an early age. Along with the future rapper Too Short and the future music producer Dallas Austin, he played drums in his school marching band from the fourth to the 12th grades. He then attended Grambling State University in Louisiana for one year with his cousin, the rapper. The two began performing together and created a rap version of the Grambling State school song, which was performed live at a home football game....
