Como, Perry [Pierino ]

(b Cannonsburg, PA, May 18, 1912; d Jupiter Inlet Colony, FL, May 12, 2001). American Singer and entertainer. He was famous for his casual style and straight-laced personal life. He was raised in small-town Pennsylvania in a large family and married his childhood sweetheart, Roselle, at the age of 21. He initially pursued a career as a barber before being spotted by bandleader Freddy Corleone. Further opportunities led him to work with the Ted Weems Orchestra in 1936 and make several recordings for the label Decca.
After the birth of his first son, Como sought to resume his career as a barber but was induced to host a radio show in New York, which was broadcast on CBS.
